BOARDS, ETC

A. CANADA INTENDS TO SEND A TEAM TO THE 2008 WORLD LIFESAVING CHAMPIONSHIPS 19 JULY–03 AUGUST 2008 IN BERLIN, GERMANY

B. ALL CF REGULAR FORCE AND RESERVE MEMBERS (CLASS A, B, OR C) ARE ELIGIBLE FOR THE CISM TEAM

C. AS AN ENTRY LEVEL STANDARD, MEMBERS MUST HAVE ACHIEVED AT LEAST ONE OF THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM SWIM TIME REQUIREMENTS DURING THE 2007/2008 COMPETITION YEAR IN A SHORT OR LONG COURSE SANCTIONED MEET.

B.    SWIMMERS REGISTRATION INFO (DOB, PROVINCE, AND REGISTRATION NUMBER)

C. BASE/STATION, HOME UNIT, HOME UNIT UIC

D. PHONE NUMBER (BOTH WORK AND HOME), FAX NUMBER, E-MAIL ADDRESS (IF APPLICABLE)

E. NAME AND RANK OF SUPERVISOR

F. QUALIFICATION TIME INFORMATION, INCLUDING SWIM MEET AND DATE

G. PRESENT SWIM CLUB/TEAM NAME, COACH (INCLUDE EMAIL ADDRESS), AND TRAINING POOL

 

3. THE FOLLOWING IS THE OUTLINE OF THE 2008 CISM TRAINING AND COMPETITION SCHEDULE (TRAVEL DATES INCLUDED):

A.    ONTARIO MASTERS SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS/LIFESAVING TRAINING CAMP 27 MAR–2 APR 08 IN TORONTO

B.    WORLD LIFESAVING CHAMPIONSHIPS 19 JULY-03 AUGUST 08 IN GERMANY

C.    WINTER SWIMMING/LIFESAVING TRAINING CAMP (LOCATION TBD – APPROX FEB 09)

 

4. ATHLETES CAN COMPETE AND QUALIFY FOR THE CISM TEAM IN EITHER AGE GROUP AND/OR MASTERS SWIMMING. IN ORDER TO COMPETE IN MASTERS SWIMMING, SWIMMERS MUST BE REGISTERED AS A MASTERS SWIMMER. MASTERS REGISTRATION CAN BE COMPLETED THROUGH BASE SWIM TEAMS/CLUBS, A LOCAL MASTERS SWIM CLUB, YOUR PROVINCIAL MASTERS SWIMMING ASSOCIATION, OR WITH THE CANADIAN FORCES MASTERS SWIM TEAM (CFST).  TEAMS REGISTERED WITH THEIR HOME BASE OR CFST WILL COMPETE AS NAVY, ARMY, AIR FORCE, AND RMC

 

5. FINAL TEAM SELECTION FOR THE 2008 CISM TEAM WILL BE MADE BY THE COACHING STAFF IN CONSULTATION WITH THE CISM LIFESAVING TEAM MANAGER. CONSIDERATIONS FOR THE CISM TEAM WILL BE BASED ON, AMONG OTHER THINGS, THE FASTEST RECORDED SWIM TIMES DURING THE CURRENT YEAR, PAST LIFESAVING COMPETITION EXPERIENCE AND RESULTS, TRAINING CAMP RESULTS, FITNESS LEVEL, AND MEMBER'S CONDUCT. SELECTION WILL TARGET THE FASTEST MALE/FEMALE ATHLETES FOR ALL THE POOL AND BEACH EVENTS AS REQUIRED FOR THE WORLD LIFESAVING CHAMPIONSHIPS REGISTRATION PACKAGE.

ATHLETES WILL BE EXPECTED TO BE ENTERED AND COMPETE IN AT LEAST THREE EVENTS
